Fulvia Sesani is the founder and heart of one of Venice’s most sought-after cooking schools, where she brought the rich traditions of Venetian cuisine to life. With a passion for authentic flavors and hands-on learning, Fulvia taught guests from around the world how to cook with the same care and simplicity that defines Italian home kitchens.
Her classes go beyond recipes. Fulvia offered a full sensory experience—sourcing ingredients from the Rialto Market, sharing stories of local food culture, and guiding each student to cook with confidence and heart. With years of culinary expertise and a genuine love for hospitality, she has built a school that feels less like a classroom and more like being welcomed into a Venetian home.
Fulvia originally pursued a career in pharmacy in a hospital setting. However, after 1968, she redirected her passion toward cooking—training in France, Thailand, and other culinary destinations—and eventually launching her own cooking classes in her native Venice.
Fulvia’s approach is personal, down-to-earth, and all about celebrating the beauty of good food, made well.
I recently found out that Fulvia has passed. She was one of my favorite chef’s and we had a good time videoing her classic recipes. Her kitchen was traditional Italian as you’ll see in the videos. The candy bowl is edible and resembles Venetian glass. RIP, Fulvia!
